GOOD NEWS -- GOOD NEWS

Happy to share with you an exciting letter we just received from the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Public Health Service, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Atlanta, Georgia. The following are excerpts or you may read the entire letter.

Thank you for sending the results of your study and training DVD on Workplace Laughter Groups. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is concerned about the health of American workers and their families and applauds your efforts to bring attention to interventions that promote health and well-being in the workplace sitting.

Employers are increasingly looking for solutions to combat rising health care costs and improve worker productivity. This research can provide additional tools for employers to address common worker complaints such as job stress resulting from lack of perceived control; job satisfaction for the individual and employee morale from the employer perspective related to positive emotional state; or the self-management through self-efficacy of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure as well as daily job tasks.

It appears Workplace Laughter Groups are a simple, low-cost intervention that can easily be worked into the course of a normal work day and encourage employers to change their workplace environment.

We wish you well in your continued efforts to support public health efforts to impact health outcomes in the workplace.

We think this letter is vitally important for all employers. Please pass it along to everyone in your own workplace as well as your friends and family who may be interested in improving productivity. Again, here is the link to the original letter.

Until next time … laugh yourselves silly. You'll feel better!
