Welcome . . .                 back to E-zine list

to the first edition of laughter track … an online newsletter dedicated to reaching people with the good news about laughter (in the absence of humor) in the workplace.

This will be our way of keeping you in touch and up to date on all the latest news and research relating to laughter and the workplace. It seems most appropriate to kick off this first edition with the announcement of some very good news:

    • A great BIG thank you to Dr. Heidi Beckman for her perseverance in getting our research manuscript formally submitted to The Journal of Primary Prevention, where it is now under review. Three cheers…Hooray! Hooray! Hooray!
  • Many, many thanks also go to Dr. Nate Regier, Ivan S. Williams, and Dr. Larry Hays for their due diligence, scrutiny in editing, verification, and review of the paper before submission.

As all of you in academia know, this is not a slam-dunk and we must be patient in our quest for acceptance for publication; but, golly, it is so exciting to finally be at this stage in the process. ‘Good thing no one told me how long it could take. I'm sure I would have said something stupid such as, "I don't have that much time!”

It will be four years this April since that first article on laughter caught my eye in Parade Magazine. And, it will be two years this April when the universe aligned itself so that Nate and I could meet and begin the joyous journey of publishing the first-ever study on the effects of laughter (in the absence of humor) in the workplace.

So, what's new on the web?

DNA - Can laughter affect your DNA?

Giggles are Good at Work! This article in the Kansan is the closest we can come to sharing the results of our research with you. Obviously we must wait until the findings are published in a medical journal before we can post the actual results. In the meantime, this is a fun and interesting article.

Until next time … laugh yourselves silly. You'll feel better!
