Laughter  without Humor . . . is it possible?

Humor

First, let me say that I'm all for humor! After all, the world would be a mighty sad place without it. I am simply offering another option that has all the benefits of humor, without the downside risk of offending others.

Let's begin by looking at the jokes in our email inboxes. Is it overflowing with anecdotal stories forwarded from friends, family, and coworkers? Did you find them all funny? Probably not, maybe some were funny, but others were, well . . . just dull.

Somehow the people who passed them on to you thought they were pretty humorous, right? They assumed the stories would make you chuckle or at least bring a smile to your face, but very often, they were wrong.

The truth is...we don't all find the same things funny or clever or even in good taste. We don't laugh at the same jokes. We don't enjoy the same comedians. We don't find the same things humorous.

The reason is, our sense of humor is dictated by our:

  Culture

  Language

  Intelligence

  Taste

  Preferences

  Values

  And
. . . probably the most important is our mood at the moment.

You know it's true. You can hear a joke on Tuesday night, and laugh yourself silly, but by Wednesday morning, you can't understand why you thought it was funny in the first place?

Humor is quite personal and very subjective. What is funny to one person may be highly offensive to someone else. Especially in today's business world we must be cognizant of what is appropriate and what is not.

What this program offers is laughter in the absence of humor . . . laughter for laughter's sake. With our program, you can enjoy all the physical and mental benefits of laughter, without running the risk of offending anyone. Not only that, but your company can reap the financial benefits as employees begin enjoying a higher level of morale and worker-satisfaction by participating in daily laughter classes.

Laughter

Laughter is a learned physical act. We are not born laughing are we? No . . . actually, most of us come into the world screaming and crying. It takes an infant 10-14 weeks to learn how to laugh.

Although you may not laugh, as often or as freely as you did when you were a child, you can actually relearn to laugh with abandonment once again. Think about it . . . children laugh without provocation hundreds of times a day, while we adults may only offer up a small social tee-hee a few times per day. In contrast, children will burst into robust laughter for absolutely NO reason except to feel the pure joy of the laughter itself. Wouldn't you like to be able to do that again?

Our program has taken Dr. Kataria's "laugh for NO reason" principles expanded them to include modules of communication and team-building exercises suitable for business and industry. We have designed our training program to span a 4-week period of time. Why? Because science has proven that it takes 21 days of repetitive action to create a new habit. One, two and three-day workshops are great for introducing new skills but have NO long-term impact in changing habits or creating new ones. You'll get the maximum benefit from laughter when it becomes a daily habit.

Humor may be funny or not, but laughter is always healthy. . .
