UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND SCHOOL OF MEDICINE STUDY SHOWS LAUGHTER HELPS BLOOD VESSELS FUNCTION BETTER

 

Blood flow was reduced in   14  of the 20   volunteers after watching stressful movie clips.


Blood flowed more freely in 19  of the 20   when they laughed at funny movie segments.

 

Blood flow increased   22%   during laughter.

 

Blood flow decreased   35%   during mental stress.

 

Recently, Dr. Miller said, he now believes 15-20 minutes of daily aerobic laughter will prevent heart disease.

Dr. Michael Miller, director of preventive cardiology at the University of Maryland Medical Center and associate professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine also authored another study on laugher and heart disease.
